Sleep dentistry

Dental procedures can be a challenge to patients with high dental anxiety and phobia.

At the Melbourne Smile Clinic, we want to offer options for all patients to access dental care.

Sleep dentistry involves the use of intravenous dental sedation, also known as conscious or twilight sedation.

Conscious sedation is an option available at the Melbourne Smile Clinic under the care and management of qualified dental sedation specialist, Dr Barry Creighton. During conscious sedation, the patient is drowsy or lightly asleep but not fully unconscious as in general anaesthesia. Patients can then undergo dental procedures in comfort over a maximum of 2 hours without the higher health risks associated with general anaesthesia.

To ensure patient comfort and safety, a thorough dental and medical assessment by our dentist and sedation specialist are required.

If you have put off necessary dental treatment due to anxiety and phobia issues, conscious sedation might be appropriate for you.

Book an appointment at the Melbourne Smile Clinic for an assessment.
